Four suspects under investigation for Paris attacks: prosecutor

Xinhua, January 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Four suspects arrested for Paris attacks have been placed under formal investigation, a French prosecutor announced on Wednesday.

Francois Molins, the Paris prosecutor, said that three of the four suspects are mainly charged with helping Amedy Coulibaly prepare his attack on a kosher supermarket where he killed a policewoman and four hostages.

After examination, the weapons of Amedy Coulibaly "corresponded in every respect" to what the three suspects had bought "in December 2014", the prosecutor was quoted by French news channel BFMTV as saying.

None of the four suspects were arrested for "complicity to murder", noted Molins, adding that "at this stage, all the evidences we hold justify a trial for criminal conspiracy."

The fourth suspect is on a prolonged detention of last week, according to the prosecutor.

Amedy Coulibaly, who claimed to be linked to the Islamic State, died in a shootout with police when he raided the kosher supermarket on Jan. 8.

He also admitted to synchronizing with the Kouachi brothers who killed 12 people at the headquarters of Satirical Weekly Charlie Hebdo on Jan. 7. Endi
