3 potential chief ministerial candidates file nominations to contest Delhi polls

Xinhua, January 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

With barely three weeks left before the Indian capital goes to polls, three potential chief ministerial candidates from three major political parties on Wednesday filed their nomination papers to contest the assembly elections.

Anti-graft Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Arvind Kejriwal, India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Kiran Bedi, and main opposition Congress party leader Ajay Maken all filed their papers.

While Kejriwal, a former civil servant-turned-politician, is AAP's chief ministerial candidate, BJP has recently roped in Bedi to counter him. Bedi is a retired top cop. On the other hand, Maken is the former sports minister.

The Indian capital, which is under the President's rule since February last year, goes to polls on the 7th of next month. The counting is due three days later. Endi
