Singapore stocks close 0.61 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 20. 44 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 3,354.46.

A total of two billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 11 billion Singapore dollars (835 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 248 to 183, while 509 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 26.32 points, or 0.8 percent, to close at 3,334.02 on Tuesday. Endi
