Chinese police seize 60 kilograms of drugs from banana truck

Xinhua, January 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province seized about 60 kilograms of methamphetamine from a truck loaded with bananas on Wednesday, according to local border control authorities.

The police also arrested two suspects.

The truck was stopped while passing through border control in Xishuangbanna Prefecture when patrolling officers smelled a pungent odor coming from the truck.

The border officers at the Dakaihe Border then unloaded all 23 tons of bananas and discovered 71 pieces of the drug in 1,500 banana crates.

The police are interrogating the suspects.

The border police in Xishuangbanna recently launched a crackdown on drug trafficking as Xishuangbanna has become a popular route for smugglers. Endi
