The Equatorial Guinea Football Federation (FEGUIFUT) has written to organizers of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) protesting against their alleged cancelled in their opening match against Congo Brazzaville.
Hosts of the 2015 Afcon opened the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Congo Brazzaville last Saturday at the Bata Stadium.
David Monsuy Senior, a member of Equatorial Guinea's Press and Information Office disclosed to Xinhua on Tuesday that a protest had been sent to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over the alleged cancelled goal.
He said the letter was presented to CAF regarding the goal scored by Emilio Nsue, but was cancelled for off-side.
The Equatorial Guinea FA considers that the goal was not scored in offside, and that the annulment is part of a planned action to complicate the qualification of their team to the quarterfinals.
According to the newly elected FA President Andres Jorge Mbomio, there is a move to make it hard for the hosts to progress. He said the FA staff examined videos and listened to sports analysts, concluding that this is an injustice and possibly a predetermined action of the referees.
The Equatorial Guinea team will on Wednesday face Burkina Faso in their second Group A match. Endi
