Russia open to economic cooperation with Ukraine: Medvedev

Xinhua, January 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Moscow has not slammed doors on economic relations with Kiev, including cooperation in the energy sector, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday.

"Time will show. We are open to discussion of various options for cooperation," Medvedev said at a meeting with Alexei Miller, the head of Russian gas giant Gazprom, and Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

Medvedev demanded that Novak and Miller continue to put pressure on Ukraine to make it fulfill its obligations and pay its gas debt.

Kiev is "in active search" for funds to support its own economy and Moscow expects this money will be used to pay off the existing debts, said the prime minister. Endi
