Xinhua, January 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigerien government Monday declared three days of national mourning across the national territory in memory of 10 people killed during the violent anti-Charlie Hebdo protests last Friday and Saturday.

The publication of cartoons of Prophet Muhammed by a French magazine Charlie Hebdo resulted in the violence in Nigerien towns, leaving five people dead in Zinder and five others dead in Niamey.

In a statement issued on Monday afternoon, the Nigerien government sent condolences to families of the victims, and wished quick recovery to all the people who were injured.

"The perpetrators of these criminal acts together with their accomplices will be identified and punished in accordance with the law," the statement said. Endi
