Vietnam handles 46 high-profile corruption cases in 2014: media

Vietnam in 2014 handled a total of 46 leaders of state-run organizations for relating responsibility of corruption occurring in their offices, local media reported on Tuesday.
Dan Tri (People's Knowledge), an online newspaper, reported that among those, only one faced criminal punishment, 35 with administrative punishments and disciplines being considered among 10 others.
Some 7,072 administrative inspections and 233,811 specialized inspections were carried out nationwide.
Thanks to these inspections, various economic violations were discovered and the sector proposed to recall 51.583 trillion Vietnamese dong (2.44 billion U.S. dollars) to Vietnam's state budget.
Meanwhile, around 15,449 individuals in 2,073 collectives were proposed administrative punishments while 55 cases were under criminal investigation in 2014, Dan Tri reported. Endi
