Drug precursors seized on Tajik-Afghan border

More than 33 tons of drug precursors were seized by Tajik customs officers at Nijniy Pyanj checkpoint near the border with Afghanistan, said Tajikistan's Customs Service on Tuesday.

The precursors, which can be used to make illicit drugs, were split into 2,400 plastic bottles.

Customs officers stopped a Dulan car with the bottles, which the driver Rahmatullo Safarov planned to transfer from Afghanistan into Tajikistan.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted, and an investigation is under way. Endi
