Angolan airline to open daily flights to Kinshasa

Angola's national airline "TAAG" will inaugurate daily flights between Luanda and Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) to facilitate the movements of people and goods between the African countries, the official news agency Angop reported on Tuesday.

Angolan Minister of Transport Augusto da Silva Tomas Augusto Tomas said the arrangement was part of a package transport deal signed between the two countries during a brief visit to Kinshasa by Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos on Monday.

The package also covered road, rail and river transports between Angola and DR Congo and was expected to strengthen cooperation and to improve the markets, trade and services between the two neighboring countries, the minister said.

President Eduardo dos Santos visited Kinshasa for a tripartite summit with his counterpart from South Africa Jacob Zuma and of DR Congo Joseph Kabila to discuss the latest development of security situation in DR Congo.

The situation in DR Congo has reportedly worried the heads of state of the region, who will assess military actions to force the disarmament of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), which had fueled instability in the region. Endi
