Algeria condemns embassy attack in Libya

Xinhua, January 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Algeria on Saturday condemned a car bomb attack that targeted its embassy in Tripoli, which left two security guards wounded.

"Any attack targeting a diplomatic site is a crime according to international law, therefore, we strongly condemn any act either against Algeria's embassy or any other diplomatic site in Libya or elsewhere," said Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.

The minister made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting with representatives of Malian factions that are in Algiers for peace talks.

The Algerian top diplomat further reiterated his country's support for the inter-Libyan peace talks being held in Geneva, saying "hopefully, this initiative would put an end to hostilities, and lead to the formation of a government."
