U.N. chief urges India to play "leadership" role in climate change

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday urged India to take the lead in reaching a global climate change pact in Paris later this year.

"I expect as one of the most critically important member state of the United Nations and as one of the fastest growing economy, India should be responsible to address climate change so that they will soon have universal and meaningful climate change agreement in Paris in December," Ban said during his tour in India.

"Nature does not wait for us. It is us 'human beings' who have to take the lead to ensure sustainable development. Climate change is a defining issue of our time. I count on the leadership of India in our ongoing efforts to address the climate change issues. " Endi
