Indian army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag on Tuesday accused Pakistan of supporting proxy war in Indian-controlled Kashmir despite being a victim of terror itself.

"Pakistan is supporting proxy war in Jammu and Kashmir despite suffering casualties. The terror infrastructure in Pakistan is still intact," General Suhag told the media in the Indian capital.

Claiming that security forces had in last year neutralized 110 militants in Indian-controlled Kashmir, he said "Recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir show Pakistan's desperation."

He stressed the need of modernizing the Indian Army. "We face many challenges, there is need to modernize army. Concerted efforts are being made to fill up gaps in weapons and ammunition," he added.

India and Pakistan have fought at least three major wars in the last 60 years over the disputed territory of Kashmir. Endi
