Spain's housing sales increase by 14 pct in November

Spanish housing sales increased by 14 percent in November 2014 in comparison with the same month in 2013 according to data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
According to the INE, a total of 25,200 sales were registered in November, which meant a 4.8 percent fall from October to November, the biggest drop for the month in five years.
Sales of second-hand houses increased by 41.6 percent in November year-on-year to a total of 17,433 operations, while sales of new houses fell by 20.6 percent to a total of 7,767 operations.
The INE reported that sales of non-subsidized houses, which accounted for 90 percent of the total, increased by 11.8 percent in November year-on-year to a total of 22,675 operations, while sales of subsidized houses increased by 38.7 percent to a total of 2,525.
Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of the year housing sales in the country increased by 1.1 percent when compared with the same period a year earlier. Sales of second-hand houses rose by 15.3 percent during this period in comparison with a year earlier while sales of new houses dropped by 15.6 percent.
According to the INE, sales of subsidized houses fell by 3.2 percent in the first 11 months of the year, while those of non-subsidized houses increased by 1.6 percent. Endit
