Australia smashes Kuwait 4-1 in Asian Cup opener

Australia started well in its campaign in the AFC Asian Cup by defeating Kuwait 4-1 in their opener here on Friday.
In the eighth minute Ali Hussain Fadhel ghosted at the corner and gave Kuwait its first goal of the Asian Cup.
Socceroos found its pace in the 33rd minute when the 35-year-old Tim Cahill from New York Red Bulls shot after receiving the pass from the right bottom.
Massimo Luongo headed from the right side to the high center of the goal in the 44th minute, assisted by Ivan Franjic.
After a tense first half, Referee Ravshan Irmatov gave the host a penalty kick in the 60th minute and Mile Jedinak scored Australia's third goal.
Goalkeeper Hameed Youssef denied Socceroos' attacks time and time again but Kuwait's efforts to rebuild ended in vain.
