The China Central Academy of Fine Arts is a leading institution for modern art education in China. Its history dates back to 1918, when the National Peking Art College was founded. In 1950, the college merged with the Fine Arts Department of the University of North China to become the current China Central Academy of Fine Arts. It now provides first-rate libraries and studios for students and teachers, and also features an art museum which houses several outstanding works by numerous masters and contemporary artists, as well as great works by its students.
