In the 1930s, Robert E. Cornish, a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, became interested in the idea that he could restore life to the dead without causing major organ damage. He decided to perfect his method on animals and successfully revived two dogs (Lazarus IV and V). He was sawing up corpses to circulate the blood while injecting a mixture of epinephrine (adrenaline) and anticoagulants.
