More Education Bases to Improve Quality Awareness

China Daily, November 28, 2013 Adjust font size:

China has established 87 bases to educate primary and middle school students on product quality and will build another 13 in the next few years, an official with the top quality watchdog said on Nov 26.

The General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Ministry of Education have set up the bases to improve product quality awareness among children, said Wu Xiaobo, an official with the quality watchdog.

The bases, most of which were opened by companies, give lessons to students on product quality and how to distinguish substandard products and also regularly hold open-house events at their plants.

“We will encourage more enterprises to invest in courses of product quality education for students and open their plants to the public, as it will help children build awareness of product quality and increase their awareness of legislation,” Wu said during an open-house course for primary school students at BWM Brilliance Automotive Co in Shenyang.

On Nov 26, the BWM Brilliance Automotive Co hosted more than 30 primary school students who toured the plant and learned about the quality control process for vehicles.
