SUC Strategic Goals

The launch of SUC Programme is in line with challenges that the developing countries are confronting with in resource efficiency, social development and green economy transition. It conforms to the strategic development goals to facilitate ecological civilization process, new urbanization and construction of the beautiful China. It’s also dedicated to serving Chinese cities and communities in the fields of “sustainable development” and “international cooperation”.

1. Under the support of international organizations and relevant ministries and commissions of China, SUC will make a wide range of invitation to the representative industry agencies, organizations, associations and research institutes to establish a strategic cooperation alliance in 2005.

2. Officially launch the selection of representative vanguard cities and communities in China to bring forth the sustainable alliance, which will be integrated into SUC sustainable cooperation platform. The number of representative cities is limited to 10, and enterprises and organizations 20.

3. Set up an effective platform for the alliance of cities and communities to facilitate international cooperation, connection and communication.

a. Collaborate with international senior experts and consultancy groups to solve the sustainable problems the cities and communities are confronting with.

b. Participate in the development of UN sustainable guidelines and acquire first-hand materials of sustainability updated in each field.

c. Present in the international sustainable workshops and conferences to deeply involve in the international action networks and initiatives.

d. Acquire sustainable publications, toolkit and methodologies developed by UNEP and other international organizations.

e. Acquire overall instruction, consultation and resource support from UNEP and international platforms.

4. Establish an international network platform for resource exchange, open and sharing and publicity and promotion of sustainable development.

5. Launch the planning and construction of international pilot templates of “sustainable cities” and “sustainable communities” in China.

6. Invite more cities, enterprises and organizations to join the alliance and initiative networks to establish a regular, high-level and long-term sustainable development mechanism in 2016-2017. It will be widely promoted in the developing countries since 2018.
