Indonesia confirmed 24 new A/H1N1 flu cases, bringing the total number to 52 in the country, Health Minister Siti Padilah Supari said on Thursday.

"So far the number of swine flu cases reaches 52," she told reporters at her office here.

The minister said that 12 of the 24 new cases were unknown as to where they got infected. Three of the 24 were foreigners, she said.

Of the total, 15 of them are male and 9 female.

The minister said of the 52 cases, none of them was dead, and many of them had recovered.

Indonesian has been on alert for the disease and was concerned that the new virus may combine with H5N1 virus already existing in the country.
