Vietnam's Ministry of Health confirmed 11 more influenza A/H1N1 cases, raising the country's tally to 259, local newspaper the New Hanoi reported on Thursday.

Among the newly confirmed cases, seven patients are in the south, three in the north and one in the central region, said the ministry.

The heath ministry is closely monitoring A/H1N1 patients to see if there is any medicine resistance case in the country, said Nguyen Huy Nga, Head of the Preventive Health and Environment Department.

Nga made such a remark after two A/H1N1 flu patients who had been treated for four days at the National Institute of Infectious and Tropical Diseases kept showing positive to the A/H1N1 virus, said the newspaper.

Nga also said the country is considering the possibility of conducting only one-time A/H1N1 test to confirm flu patients. Vietnam currently conducts A/H1N1 test twice on a person.

So far, 186 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. The country has reported no death in connection with the disease since its outbreak.
