Honduras has suspended school activities from June 15 to June 30 in the north of the country, in an effort to prevent the spread of the influenza A/H1N1, authorities said on Friday.
Education Minister Marlon Breve told reporters that the measures will be adopted in all kindergartens, elementary and secondary schools in the Department of Cortes.
Honduras has so far reported 100 cases of A/H1N1 flu and 91 of them are from Cortes department.
Health Minister Carlos Aguilar said that the suspension of school activities will help stop the infection of the disease in Cortes, and that this preventive measure will be welcomed by local people.
Honduras started its Anti-pandemic National Plan when Mexico detected the outbreak in April.
