The Honduran government confirmed on Tuesday 32 new cases of A/H1N1 flu, mostly in the northern parts of the country, bringing the total number of infections to 34.
"There have been 32 new confirmed cases, which are added to the other two previously detected," Honduran Health Minister Carlos Aguilar told reporters on Tuesday.
Aguilar said that most of the patients have recovered and currently there is no hospitalized patient.
Since the A/H1N1 flu outbreak first detected in Mexico, Honduras has launched a national anti-pandemic plan and tightened up border quarantine control.
The confirmed flu patients in Honduras are aged between 15 and 35, most of them living in the north of the country, such as San Pedro Sula in Cortes department.
Aguilar said that the country has more than 20,000 courses of antiviral treatment in stockpile.
The country reported its first confirmed flu case on May 21, in San Pedro Sula, and the patient was a nine-year-old girl. The second case was confirmed on May 28, in a 35-year-old patient who arrived in Tegucigalpa from Florida, the United States.
