Vietnam's Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday said that a 39 year-old Vietnamese woman recently returning home from the United States has been confirmed to be infected with the A/H1N1 virus, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The woman, who is the mother of the recently-confirmed A/H1N1 six-year-old Vietnamese girl, is now being treated at the HCM City Nhi Dong 2 Hospital, said Nguyen Huy Nga, Head of the Preventive Health and Environment Department of MOH.

The woman and her daughter returned to Vietnam on May 19 at the International Airport Tan Son Nhat of Vietnam on the US flight coded OZ 731, transiting in the Republic of Korea, said Nga.

The ministry asked relevant units to keep surveillance on other171 passengers who shared the same flight with the mother and her daughter.

Vietnam has so far confirmed five cases of the A/H1N1 flu. All of the five patients had recently returned home from the United States.

After treatment, the first three cases are now tested negative to the virus and may be discharged from the hospital next week, said the agency.
