The World Bank has approved a credit worth 450 million U.S. dollars for a Vietnamese waste water treatment project, local Saigon Times daily reported Wednesday.
The fund will be used in implementing the second phase of an environmental protection project, with focus on waste water treatment, improvement of the environment, and technical support that would enhance relevant agencies' capability in controlling waste water and local residents' awareness of the project's feedback.
Some 1.1 million people living in HCM City will be as beneficiaries from the waste water treatment plant that would process waste water from the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe canal which is now running to the Saigon River, and from other areas in district 2.
