Editor's note: As most urban residents discuss how to improve quality of life, these children and elders left behind in Bailong Village, Bijie City in Guizhou Province, are thinking about how to survive. Scattered in deep mountains, Bailong Village consists of 500 households. With more and more members of the village's workforce migrating to nearby cities and counties, the only residents left in the village are children and the elderly, along with their deep-rooted poverty.
For these left-behind children, the chances of seeing their parents are as rare as eating a meal with meat. [Photo by Wei Jing/China.org.cn] |
