British stocks down 0.17 pct Tuesday

LONDON, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down 13.21 points or 0.17 percent at 7,755.93 points.

Johnson Matthey, a British speciality chemicals company, soared 2.84 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. NMC Health and Associated British Foods rose by 2.31 percent and 2.23 percent, respectively.

The international mining group Fresnillo was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.47 percent. Rio Tinto, the international mining group, dropped 3.02 percent. The Chilean mining group Antofagasta dropped 2.79 percent. Enditem
