Chicago agricultural futures mixed in morning trading

Xinhua,January 06, 2018 Adjust font size:

CHICAGO, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities were trading mixed on Friday morning with soybeans rebounding over Argentine crop conditions.

As of 1539 GMT, March corn was unchanged at 3.51 U.S. dollars per bushel, March wheat was down 5.25 cents at 4.2875 dollars while March soybeans were up five cents at 9.7275 dollars per bushel.

Analysts said disappointing Argentine crop conditions and dry weather forecasts offered support to CBOT soybean futures.

The Buenos Aries Grain Exchange estimated that only 53 percent of the soybean crop can be rated good or excellent with 27 percent of their soybean soil moisture being rated short.

Experts believe the dryness and heat there will actually bring more harm to corn than soybeans with the crop now in the reproductive period.

CBOT wheat futures posted losses as the weather in the southern U.S. Midwest and southern plains continued to warm up, limiting the risk of further winterkill. Enditem
