Egypt to host Africa volleyball club competitions

NAIROBI, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Egypt beat Kenya and Cameroon to win the rights to host both the 2018 men's and women's volleyball club championships.

According to the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), the Egyptian cities of Cairo and Alexandria will host the two events in March and April. The tournament winners will have a chance to contest with winners from Oceania for a slot to the World Club Championships.

CAVB Communication officer Tareq Aldwar said the men's edition of the tournament, which will bring together elite clubs across the continent will be hosted by Cairo based Ahly Club from March 27 to April 5.

"This tournament will be staged just weeks after the women's edition," said CAVB.

The women's competition will be held between March 5-18. Among the teams that will compete include Carthage (Tunisia), defending champions Al-Ahly, El-Sham (Egypt), Tunisian club Marsa, INJS from Cameroon.

Kenya will be represented at the two competitions by Kenya Pipeline and Kenya Prisons for the women's edition while General Service Unit and Kenya Prisons will fly Kenya's flag in the men's finals. Enditem
