MADRID, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu said 'adios' to his teammates on Friday as he prepares to complete a move to Beijing Guoan in a transfer reported in the Spanish press to be worth around 40 million euros.

The Congolese born forward, who has scored nine goals in the Liga Santander this season flies to China on Sunday, but spent part of Friday morning at the Villarreal training ground.

"I have said goodbye to everyone and now I am waiting for the deal to be closed between the two clubs and that's it," Bakambu told the press.

"It seems strange to be going, but I received the offer a while ago and it is the sort of opportunity that you have to take advantage of when it arrives," he added.

However, despite being convinced the move to China was for the best, the 26-year-old admitted he had taken his time over deciding to accept the offer from Beijing Guoan.

"You don't make a decision like this from one day to the next; I have been considering it for a while and speaking to my family. I think it is the best for me," said Bakambu, who added the had had two "very good years" at Villarreal and thanked everyone for their support. Enditem
