Yunnan police crack drug case

Xinhua,December 19, 2017 Adjust font size:

KUNMING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Police have seized 129 tonnes of raw materials for producing drugs in the city of Baoshan in southwest China's Yunnan Province, arresting one man, authorities said Tuesday.

The man, originally from east China's Fujian Province, caught police attention earlier this month, after frequently transporting raw drugs-materials abroad and involvement in drug manufacturing.

On Dec. 15, the suspect was caught in the city of Lincang, which borders Myanmar, with 100 buckets and 26 tonnes of drug-making materials in his vehicle.

Police destroyed a drug-making lab related to the case, confiscating 103 tonnes of raw materials.

Meanwhile, police in Fengqing County busted a drug gang, detaining five suspects and seizing 16 kilograms of methamphetamine, the provincial public security department said Tuesday.

Both cases are under further investigation.

Yunnan is a major front in the battle against drug crime, as it borders the notorious Golden Triangle, known for its rampant narcotics production and trafficking. Enditem
