Singapore stocks close 0.3 pct lower

SINGAPORE, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed down 0.3 percent or 10.35 points to close at 3404.47.

A total of 1.62 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 978.4 million Singapore dollars (about 730.1 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 224 to 173.

The STI index closed down 0.06 percent or 2.12 points to close at 3414.82 Monday. Enditem
