Indonesian shuttlers Gideon/Sukamuljo clinch 7th title of year at Dubai World Superseries

DUBAI, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian duo Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo won their 7th title of the season after beating Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan of China for the men's doubles gold medal at Badminton World Federation (BWF) Dubai World Superseries Finals here on Sunday.

The Indonesian pair won the final 21-16, 21-15.

In an all-Japanese women's doubles final, Shiho Tanaka/Koharu Yonemoto won over their compatriots Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota 21-16, 21-15.

Both winning pairs carried home 42,000 dollars prize money. "We were both fully concentrated, that is why we combined so well," said Yonemoto, currently the world's number six in the women' s doubles ranking.

Indonesia' s Gideon thanked his fans for the audible support. "It is amazing to play in Dubai, and holding the seventh trophy of this year with my partner Kevin is an absolute honour," he said. Enditem
