Bus seized, burnt in southern Thailand

Xinhua,December 17, 2017 Adjust font size:

BANGKOK, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Ten armed militants seized a bus and burnt it after driving all passengers off in restive southern Thailand on Sunday, local media reported.

The group of militants, armed with guns, seized the bus in southern province Yala's Bannang Sata District on Sunday afternoon and drove all the passengers off before torching it, according to local reports.

The total 11 passengers were safe, Post Today reported.

The group had blocked roads by cutting down trees before they hijacked the bus. In order to stop police who were tailing after them, they laid many spikes on the road.

The case is under investigation. Local reports said the armed men all escaped.

Local media said that the place where the hijack took place has seen many bomb attacks in the past, one of which killed a governor of the province in 2013. Enditem
