British stocks up 0.57 pct Friday

LONDON, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.57 percent, or 42.45 points, to close at 7,490.57 points.

Sky, the Europe's leading broadcasting and entertainment company, soared 2.83 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. WPP and Mondi increased by 2.58 percent and 2.42 percent, respectively.

The multinational health care company NMC Health was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.37 percent. Next, a British clothing and home products retailer, dropped 2.28 percent. Mediclinic International, an international private hospital group, dropped 2.01 percent. Enditem
