DPRK accuses U.S. of staging new missile warning drill

Xinhua,December 15, 2017 Adjust font size:

PYONGYANG, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) on Friday accused the United States of conducting another missile warning drill with Japan and South Korea, the state media said.

The drill led by the United States, the fourth of its kind this year, is "a serious military provocation further exacerbating the grave situation of the Korean Peninsula and the region," the director general of the Institute of Disarmament and Peace of the DPRK Foreign Ministry said in a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The United States continuously stages various kinds of joint military exercises against the DPRK including two missile warning drills in 2016 and four times in 2017. This fact alone fully illustrates the extreme level of the insane military provocations of the Trump administration, said the statement.

The drill "is aimed at accelerating the building of the Missile Defence System and the formation of tripartite military alliance of the United States, Japan and South Korea," which will bring about "a new arms race and a new cold war" on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, it added. Enditem
