Chinese badminton doubles perform mixed on day three at BWF Dubai World Superseries 2017

DUBAI, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan, the world's number one in women's doubles, lost against Japanese duo Shiho Tanaka/Koharu Yonemoto, failing to enter the semifinals at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Superseries 2017 in Dubai's Hamdan Sports Complex.

Yonemoto commented on the winning match by saying "we prepared well for this match. We are happy to be in Dubai, this is the last tournament of the year and we will do our best on Saturday in the semi-finals."

China's women's doubles team Huang Yaqiong and Yu Xiaohan won against Chang Ye Na/Lee So Hee from South Korea 21-12, 21-14 in 41 minutes.

In the mixed doubles Group B, China's Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping were victorious over Indonesia's Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir 2-1.

In the men's doubles, Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen lost 1-2 to Indonesian combination Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

"We tried to defend our line against their smashing shots, but we were not always successful." said Liu Junhui.

The semi-finals of BWF Dubai World Superseries Finals are scheduled to take place on Saturday and the finals on Sunday. Enditem
