Spanish shares rise 0.57 pct Friday

MADRID, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- News of an agreement over the Brexit helped to provoke an atmosphere of optimism at the Spanish stock market on Friday.

The benchmark Ibex-35 index opened at 10,262.60 points and closed on 10,321.10, climbing by 0.57 percent on the day, and confirming a rise of 2.3 percent over the week.

The main winners on the day were Spain's banks, all of which saw share values rise in the wake of the agreement to mark the end of the first stage of the Brexit talks.

Caixabank rose 2.75 percent, while Banco Sabadell and Bankia increased 2.71 and 2.67 percent respectively.

The companies which saw share values fall the most were health service provider Grifols, SA whose share price fell by 2.55 percent.

Telecommunications company Cellnex Telecom saw 2.45 percent knocked off its value and Engineering firm Tecnicas Unidas shares fell by 1.81 percent. Enditem
