Teenage skier dies in downhill race in Canada

BERLIN, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Max Burkhardt, a 17-year-old German alpine skier died on Tuesday in a hospital in Calgary the day after he got serious injury in skiing.

Burkhardt was a member of the SC Partenkirchen ski club in Bavaria and had been training since August at the Sugar Bowl Academy in California with the aim of being selected for Germany's national ski team.

It is the second alpine skiing fatality in Canada. David Poisson crashed through safety netting and reportedly hit a tree. He died at the age of 35. Enditem
