Catalan radio station insists Valverde to be next Barca coach

Barcelona based radio station RAC 1 said on Tuesday that FC Barcelona have reached agreement with Athletic Club Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde to be the replacement for Luis Enrique when the current Barca boss leaves the club at the end of the season.

RAC 1 usually has good connections with its hometown club and with Valverde, who still refusing to comment on whether or not he is going to sign a new contract with Athletic after four seasons in charge. The former Barca player is the clear favorite to take over at the Camp Nou.

The radio station assures Valverde has agreed a two-year deal with Barca, although sources from within the Catalan club continue to insist there will be no decision taken until May 29th, two days after Barca face Alaves in the final of the Copa del Rey.

The other candidate for the Barca dugout had been Real Sociedad coach, Eusebio Sacristan, another former Barca player, but he ruled himself out by signing a new deal with the San Sebastian side club.

Meanwhile Luis Enrique's assistant, Juan Carlos Unzue is thought to be the only other man with a chance of taking over at the Camp Nou, although his rumored poor relationship with Brazilian star Neymar, is thought to be an important factor against him. Endit
