Nairobi bourse turnover declines on subdued foreign trading

Xinhua, May 15, 2017 Adjust font size:

Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) opened the week on a low Monday with a total of 7.9 million shares valued at 1.4 million U.S. dollars transacted.

The turnover was a huge decline from 29 million worth 6.8 million dollars posted in the previous session last Friday.

Safaricom, Kenya's leading telecom, was the day's biggest mover after trading 2.1 million shares at unchanged price of 0.20 dollars.

Kenya Airways was the second best traded stock after transacting 1.4 million shares at a high of 0.06 dollars, an 8 percent increase.

The drop in trading, due to low foreign investors' participation, pushed the NSE 20 Share Index down 15 points to 3,229.30. Endit
