Two Sudanese soldiers killed in Yemen operations: spokesman

Sudanese army on Saturday announced that two of its soldiers were killed and others injured in Yemen.

"As part of its assigned task, the Sudanese forces conducted a series of successful operations within its advancement axis during Friday and Saturday, where two soldiers martyred and a number of others injured," said Sudanese army spokesman Ahmed Khalifa Al-Shami in a statement on Saturday.

The army spokesman did not give further information about the nature of the operations conducted by the Sudanese forces or the number of the injured soldiers.

In January 2016, the Sudanese army announced the killing of the first of its soldiers in Yemen.

Last April, the army declared that five of its soldiers were killed and 22 others injured in battles in Yemen.

With the latest announcement, the number of the Sudanese soldiers killed since the beginning of the war in Yemen has risen to eight.

Sudan has been taking part in the operations of the Saudi-led Arab coalition against the Houthi Group in Yemen since March 26, 2015. Endit
