Six cyclists injured after collision with drunken driver in Spain

Xinhua, May 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

Six cyclists were injured Saturday in northeast Spain after a collision with a car driven by a woman who had four times of the permitted levels of alcohol in her blood, police confirmed.

The accident happened near the city of Tarragona at around 7:15 a.m. local time when the car, which was driven by a 26-year-old Colombian woman, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and hit the group of riders.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving and for driving under the effects of alcohol after tests showed she had four times the permitted levels of alcohol in her bloodstream.

The accident comes less than a week before three cyclists were killed on May 7 in another accident involving a drunken driver close to Alicante on the east coast of Spain. Endit
