The Egyptian armed forces discovered a terrorist hideout containing large amounts of weapons and explosive devices in central Sinai, the military spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.

"The law enforcement forces of the Third Field Army continued their strikes against terrorist hideouts amid the army's efforts to chase out terrorist elements in central Sinai," Military Spokesman Tamer al-Refaay said.(Egypt-Army raid-Sinai)

DAMASCUS -- Syrian army on Saturday captured the eastern Qaboun neighborhood of the capital Damascus after losing it to the rebels in 2012, a military source told Xinhua.

The victory came four months after a military campaign by the Syrian army waged by the Syrian military forces, the source said on condition of anonymity. (Syria-Qaboun)

MOSCOW -- Dozens of Russian public institutions including the Bank of Russia said on Saturday that they have thwarted a massive cyber attack and prevented vital data loss, Russian media reported.

The central bank's security and information protection division, responsible for monitoring computer attacks in the credit and financial sphere, has registered massive spread of malicious programs, but no instances of compromise were detected, said the Bank of Russia, quoted by Sputnik, a major media outlet in Russia.(Russia-Cyberattack)

LONDON -- Britain's official emergency committee, known as Cobra, met in London Saturday afternoon to discuss the cyber attack that has caused widespread disruption to the country's National Health Service (NHS).

Around 45 NHS organisations in England and Scotland, including hospitals, family doctor surgeries, and health services, were hit in the cyber attack Friday which prevented doctors, nurses and staff from accessing vital patient information.(Britain-NHS-Cyber attack)

KHARTOUM -- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Saturday directed Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to confront tribal conflicts in Darfur region and resolve them peacefully or militarily.

Al-Bashir on Saturday attended the inauguration of the biggest batch of RSF forces that amounted to 11,450. (Sudan-Tribal conflicts-Darfur) Endi
