1st LD Writethru: 10 laborers killed in firing incidents in SW Pakistan

Xinhua, May 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

At least 10 laborers were killed and two others injured in two separate firing incidents on construction sites in Pakistan's southwestern port city of Gwadar in Balochistan Province on Saturday, officials and reports said.

Confirming the death toll, Sarfraz Bugti, home minister of Balochistan Province said that the laborers were working on road construction projects when they came under attack.

The firing incidents took place in the Pishgan and Ganth Road areas, located at the outskirts of Gwadar.

The unknown assailants fled the scene after carrying out the attack and a search operation by local paramilitary forces is underway.

Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar Naeem Bazai said that all the victims were natives of Naushero Feroze district, located in neighboring Sindh Province.

The bodies and injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors said that the victims were shot in the head by the militants.

No group has claimed the attack yet.

The incident happened a day after 25 people were killed and 35 others injured in a suicide attack on Pakistani Senate's Deputy Chairman Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri's convoy in Mastung district of the province. Endit
