(BRF) China's legislature to enhance ties with Chilean parliament

Xinhua, May 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

China's legislature values the friendly ties with Chilean parliament and is willing to strengthen exchanges, top legislator Zhang Dejiang said Saturday.

The two sides should exchange experience on country governance and offer supportive policies and legal protection to inject new vigor to bilateral relations, Zhang said in a meeting with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, who is in Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation scheduled for May 14 to 15.

The two countries should actively carry out the important consensus between their heads of state, deepen strategic mutual trust and promote pragmatic cooperation to benefit the two peoples, said Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Despite their geographical distance, China and Chile treat each other with sincerity, and Chile has been a front runner among Latin American countries in developing relations with China, Zhang said.

Bachelet said Chile is ready to deepen cooperation with China in political and economic areas, as well as on implementing the Belt and Road Initiative.

Legislative bodies of the two countries should strengthen strategic dialogue and communication to continuously boost bilateral ties, she said. Endi
