India's independent Election Commission Friday challenged political parties across the country to hack into its electronic voting machines (EVMs) next week.
The Election Commission took the unique decision to hold a hackathon either this Sunday or Monday at an all-party meeting, attended by representatives of at least 55 political outfits in India, in the national capital. (India-EVM)

HANOI -- With his research on new carbon materials, Dr. Zhu Yanwu from China's University of Science and Technology has been awarded the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Science Prize for Innovation, Research and Education 2017.
Dr. Zhu won the annual science prize after beating other 16 nominees from APEC member economies, the largest number of participants to date, Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA reported on Friday. The prize's theme for this year is "New Material Technologies". (Vietnam-China-Prize)

JAKARTA -- The governments of Indonesia and Chile on Friday expected to complete the negotiation of comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) between the two nations at the end of this year.

PHNOM PENH -- Jin Liqun, president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), said here Friday that the multilateral development bank is committed to lending strong support to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for infrastructure development.
