Namibia to launch new tourism bodies to complement implemented strategies

Xinhua, May 12, 2017 Adjust font size:

Namibia's Ministry of Environment and Tourism will launch two new tourism bodies, the National Tourism Competitiveness Advisory Council and the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Tourism Development on May 15.

The ministry, Friday said as part of the implementation of the National Sustainable Tourism Growth and Development Strategy, it was recommended that new tourism bodies be established to boost the efforts towards attaining the set targets and to be the main driver in the tourism sector.

Last year in October Namibia developed and launched two strategic documents; the National Tourism Investment Profile and Promotion Strategy and National Sustainable Tourism Growth and Development Strategy.

The ministry's spokesperson said the strategies were aimed at addressing constraints and strategic re-positioning of the Namibian tourism sector into becoming the key national economic and development sector. Endit
