Putin, Moon stress political, diplomatic solution to tensions on Korean Peninsula

Russian President Vladimir Putin and new South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday emphasized a political and diplomatic solution to the tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

"In exchanging views on the Korean Peninsula situation, the importance of finding ways to resolve the crisis politically and diplomatically was underlined," said the Kremlin in a statement.

During a phone conversation, Putin congratulated Moon on his election as president, and the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and global issues. The two presidents agreed on further contacts.

Moon won a landslide victory in the presidential election on Tuesday and was sworn in on Wednesday. Endi
