Singapore imposes new rule to restrict number of tenants in private residential properties

Xinhua, May 12, 2017 Adjust font size:

Singapore imposes a new rule to restrict number of tenants in private residential properties, announced the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) on Friday.

Under the new law which will take effect from May 15, no more than six unrelated tenants are allowed for private properties. The current occupancy cap is eight unrelated persons.

URA said landlords who fail to comply with the new rule will be subjected to investigations.

The maximum number of subtenants allowed for a three-room unit and a four-room or bigger unit, however, is six and nine respectively. Endit
